Consultation Fee

The fee for a 50 minute consultation with Patrick Sheehan is $230 for a business hours appointment (9am-4pm Monday to Friday) and $250 for an out of hours appointment (After 4.30pm on weekdays and all day Saturday).

NOTE: The Australian Psychological Society’s recommended fee for a standard 50-minute consultation is currently $280.

Medicare Rebates

If you would like to claim a Medicare rebate, please make an appointment to see your GP and ask them to write a referral under a Mental Health Care Plan. It is up to the GP if they provide you with this plan: Medicare rebates are only available for psychological treatment of eligible mental health conditions. With a mental health care plan, Medicare will reduce your fee by $131.55 for a 45-60 minute appointment with a clinical psychologist. This rebate is valid for 10 sessions each year.

Please ensure you bring any paperwork given to you by your doctor, such as the referral letter, to the first appointment.

Private Health Funds

The amount of money private insurance providers will pay back for clinical psychologist sessions will depend on your insurer and your level of coverage. Please contact your insurance provider and ask about their coverage of sessions with a clinical psychologist. The Adaptability Practice cannot process transactions with private health insurance, and we ask that you organise any rebate with your insurance provider after the conclusion of your psychology session. We will provide you an invoice after each session that has all the information you need to assist with this process.

Cancellation Fee

It is standard practice for psychology services to charge a cancellation fee given the length of appointments that take place. If you think you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, we ask that you please provide at least 48 hours notice.

Cancellation fees are as follows:

• cancelling between 48 hours and 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment - 50% of your session fee
• not showing up to an appointment or cancelling within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment - 100% of your session fee
